These Winsor & Newton Artists' Watercolour Sable brushes are hand crafted from the finest Kolinsky sable hair. Kolinsky sable has a number of attributes: its natural profile provides a pronounced belly and tapered tip, it has a natural tendency to spring back on itself maintaining brush shape during painting, and it is extremely resilient and therefore very durable.

Short Handle Round: A round bellied watercolour brush. Excellent for washes as well as fine detail work.

Short Handle Pointed Round: An adaptation of the round - extra fine taper point for accuracy and fine detail work, plus a belly to hold colour.

Short Handle Rigger: The longest, thinnest round watercolour brush. First designed for painting the rigging on ships, these brushes are excellent for continuous fine lines.

Short Handle One Stroke: Originally for 'one stroke' application by sign writers, many watercolourists use this brush for washes. Also makes a unique chisel edged flat brush mark.
